MATOKE

 


Matoke also known as matooke, amatooke or ekitookye originally found in Uganda, North west of Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi it is a traditional food in those areas and tribes like bahimas, tutsi, haya and others. Basically it's banana fruit harvested green peeled and cooked. Matoke banana are staple food crop found in great lake area of Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi they are easily distinguishable because of the uniqueness from other bananas.


As you can see above that is how the matoke looks like, people in the great lake areas eat this every single time of the day can be eaten as breakfast, lunch and dinner normally eaten with meat. There alot of different ways to make this matoke here is one of the many ways.

REQUIREMENTS.

  • Green banana(matoke)
  • Oil
  • Onion
  • Pepper
  • Meat
INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Peel the green bananas slowly they can be hard you can use oil to peel smoothly.
  • Boil the peeled bananas 
  • Add cut onions tomato meat and pepper and wait till colour change
  • Now you can enjoy your lovely matooke.
Matoke are very tasty and delicious one of my favourite foods as i am from the great lake areas they are worth a try trust ne there will be no regrets.
